HOW TO PREPARE YOUR TRACKS
FOR MIXING
- Eliminate noise on the mix ( tracks)
- Pitch & timing correction
- Turn off all processing & effects
- Keep your mix clean and dynamic
- Label your tracks properly and mark tempo (bpm)
- All exported tracks need to begin at the same start time
- Export your audio at the level you have it in your rough mixdown
- The file format should be as your project format (16bit or 24bit - 48.000hz or 44.1khz .wav or .aiff)
- Remove any dihtering
- Send only the audio that you want included in the mix
- Consolidate & export
- Send us your rough mix & reference song.
FOR MASTERING
- Remove any master bus effects
- Make sure every track has enough headroom-not only master bus
- Leave the master fader at 0db - lower (or raise) every single channel together until arround -6db.
- Eliminate noise on the mix
- Keep your mix clean and dynamic
- If you hear any problems, go back and fix them
- Leave the track at the resolution you’ve been working at
- The file format usually should be as 16bit or 24bit / 44.1kHz or 48kHz .wav or .aiff
- Remove any dithering
- Reference your mix - compare levels, compression, eq, fx etc.
- Also, listen to your mix on different playback systems.
- Above all make sure your mix sounds like you want!
